Wearable art

This past term our focus in learning has been on wearable arts. We had to make something belonging to Ata Hapara. My group (Mailli, Naquita, Jade, Kahukura and I) choosed to do a beach, because the New Brighton beach is a big part of the New Brighton community. But as we went on planning we saw that a Pukeko would be a better fit. We had a few difficuties but got there in the end. Here is a picture of some of my mahi.

space sience project

For the past few weeks of this term Ata Hāpara have been doing a space science project. We first had to complete a few slides last term about each planet as well as the asteroids, comets and the Moon. After that, we had to choose a question to then learn, create and share. The question Miriam and I chose was “Why Do The Planets Orbit The Sun”

Once we gathered our information we started to create our planets, Sun and we also painted a box black then flicked white paint on to it.

Below is my video explaining the research we found.

the tiwai waka

Today we researched a waka named waka tiwai, I went to mindful movers so I didn't get the first part. But after we got back we were given 6 questions, we created a document and wrote our information in 2 blocks.  The information we were supposed to get was something like, the names it was given over the years, what it was used for, etc. My group nominated me to make slides so we could put the pictures of the tools, the waka in the olden days, and the materials. After lots of hard work we then realised that those 2 blocks were only preparing us to made a poster of the waka we were assigned, so then we were given a piece of paper to draw our plan in less then a block then we were given our big paper to actually do our big poster. We were barely halfway finished when we had to write this blog.

Thanks for reading my blog.

Takroa and Papa/Rangi and Papa

Today Kahukura and I have been working towards finding away to tell the story about Rangi and Papa as well as Takaroa and Papa.  First we made a venn diagram to tell the differences in the story and the simurlerities.  After getting that one we then went on to create a way to retell the story.

Kahu and I using screencastify chose to make a video to retell the story. Here is some of our work...
